Timeshare Owner's UpdateTimeshare Owner’s TargetedJanuary 24th, 2009As a timeshare owner, have you ever wondered why you always get approached to do an owner’s survey for a free gift? Let me share with you why this is the meat of the timeshare industry. You have to realize that there are many tactics in the industry to get you to spend money. It does not stop once you become an owner. That is where it starts! When you schedule your vacation for a particular resort, the resort’s marketing staff has you on record. Once they know when you are staying, they can ensure they are there when you check in at the Concierge’s desk to give you any information you might need. This includes your parking pass and any gift certificates you might want. Once the nice young lady has you there she will ask you to do an owner’s survey that will get you a free gift. They tell you it will only take approximately ten minutes and the person conducting the survey will only be asking you about your condo. Right! Once the sales rep gets the “tour” they then grab the tour sheet that includes your ownership information, and go to your condo to get you to open up to them. Once you do this they create a problem that can only be fixed by you coming down to the member’s services building to get you the information that you so “desperately” need. They will do any means possible to get you to the sales department. They will tell you that they are owner’s advocates, or counselors and that they are not there to sell you anything. It is about getting you updated on your ownership. It is all a scam to get you to come in and hear a sales presentation. They are very good at masking the presentation and you will find yourself there for three to four hours only to find out that they want you to purchase more points. Remember, to the sales rep, the only way to fix any problem is to sell you more points. Selling you more points equals a commission check in their pocket.
