Shortly after retiring from the Navy I went to work for a Timeshare Company in the Nashville area. I quickly found out the industry was full of individuals who do not care about their clients. I tried several different ways to be able to sell timeshare packages to existing owners and non-owners. What disturbed me was the industry is not set up for the core values I have had ingrained in me for the past 20 plus years of military service. I had a difficult time showing a couple why they needed to go in to major debt to secure their vacations for them and their children for a lifetime. As I did my research, it seemed almost every owner I had dealt with had negative experiences with their sales representatives. The sales reps claimed they would be an advocate or counselor, and would assist in any type of rental needs the perspective owner needed. Additionally, the tricks of not attending a “transition event” or a “dinner party” were reasons for owners to go $15,000 to $75,000 further in debt.
After being miserable for a long period of time and countless sleepless nights, I decided to leave the industry, and I feel Timeshare Advocacy International, LLC can be an asset to owner’s who have fallen in to similar situations. Additionally, for those owners who enjoy what they have, but do not want to be taken advantage of in the future, we are here to coach you so you can be an empowered owner. Lastly, you might be interested in making an investment or know someone who is getting ready to do the same, we are here to ensure you know what to expect and how to maximize your purchase. I in no way claim to know it all, but I have been successful in sales and helping the owners I had in maximizing their ownership. My goal is to give you an honest opinion of what you have or are going to encounter from the point of view of someone who was in the industry. I want to give you an inside look at what you can do to either recover from possible misrepresentation and fraud, or what you will encounter from a sales shark and the different levels of management.
