Timeshare Fraud Explained

What is Timeshare Fraud?

If you have looked around this website or searched the Internet you have seen countless ads and one-line explanations of “Timeshare Fraud”.   If you are like many people you may not fully understand exactly what everyone is talking about and why it is important.   Well, good news, this article is going to make sure you understand timeshare fraud and the importance of them in relation to canceling your timeshare contract.

A timeshare agreement is a contract and is subject to the same legal principles and rules as all other contracts.  Both people entering into the timeshare agreement had to fully understand the terms and conditions of the agreement and enter into the agreement of their own free will.  I know, I know, … boring!  But now let’s look at how it helps you:

Let’s say that your salesperson told you that your maintenance fees would never go up… and they do.  Or if you were told that you could sell your weeks, points or even your timeshare back to them… but you can’t.  Suppose you did not have time to review the agreement to verify these terms.  Sound familiar?  If this has happened to you then you likely did not understand the terms of your timeshare agreement and did not have the chance to understand them.  If that turns out to be the case your timeshare contract may be able to be cancelled.

Also, did your presentation last over 3 hours?  Were you invited to or ‘required’ to attend additional events that were not billed as sales events but actually were for the purpose of getting you to buy a timeshare?  These situations may present enough pressure on you to make the contract you signed not of your own free will.

These are just two small examples of why timeshare fraud is a big problem and something you need to understand.  If any of these things happened to you or if other questionable actions took place as part of your timeshare purchase you need to call us today.  Let us review your case and see what your options for cancelling your timeshare contract truly are.
